bebas (?)

be the best of whatever you are

If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill,
Be a scrub in the valley — but be
The best little scrub by the side of the rill;
Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass,
And some highway happier make;
If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass —
But the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew,
There's something for all of us here,
There's big work to do, and there's lesser to do,
And the task you must do is the near.

If you can't be a highway then just be a trail,
If you can't be the sun be a star;
It isn't by size that you win or you fail —
Be the best of whatever you are!
-Douglass Malloch-

Terlepas dari segala isu tersebut, pusi be the best of whatever you are atau kerendahan hati adalah puisi yang cantik :)*

The Happiness is..

One day, I was once asked to my friends,
“what is the happiness?”
I found lots of interesting answer. I will tell you some answer about this..

one of my friends replied, happiness is as described by Paulo Coelho in his writings.
do you know the story about it? (:
well. I’ll tell you a little about this part, quoted from The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho.

“A certain shopkeeper sent his son to learn about the secret of happiness from the wisest man in the world.
The lad wandered through the desert for forty days, and finally came upon a beautiful castle, high atop a mountain. It was there that the wise man lived.

Rather than finding a saintly man though, our hero, on entering the main room of the castle, saw a hive of activity: tradesmen came and went, people were conversing in the corners, a small orchestra was playing soft music, and there was a table covered with platters of the most delicious food in that part of the world.
The wise man conversed with everyone, and the boy had to wait for two hours before it was his turn to be given the man’s attention. The wise man listened attentively to the boy’s explanation of why he had come, but told him that he didn’t time just then to explain the secret of happiness.

He suggested that the boy look around the palace and return in two hours. “Meanwhile I want to ask you do do something,” said the wise man, handing the boy a teaspoon that held two drops of oil. ‘As you wander around, carry this spoon with you without allowing the oil to spill.”

The boy began climbing and descending the many stairways of the palace, keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. After two hours, he returned to the room where the wise man was. “Well,” asked the wise man, “did you see the Persian tapestries that are hanging in my dining hall? Did you see the garden that it took the master gardener ten years to create? Did you notice the beautiful parchments in my library?”
The boy was embarrassed, and confessed that he had observed nothing. His only concern had been not to spill the oil that the wise man had entrusted to him.
“Then go back and observe the marvels of my world,” said the wise man.
Relieved, the boy picked up the spoon and returned to his exploration of the palace, this time observing all of the works of art on the ceilings and the walls. He saw the gardens, the mountains all around him, the beauty of the flowers, and the tasted with which everything had been selected. Upon returning to the wise man, he related in detail everything he had seen.
“But where are the drops of oil I entrusted to you?” asked the wise man. Looking down at the spoon he held, the boy saw that the oil was gone.
“Well, there is only one piece of advice I can give you.” said the wisest of wise men. “The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon”
Then with my stupid thoughts,i suggested my friends to pour the oil in a larger container, not a spoon. haha.

I know that’s not the point of Paulo’s story. I think Paulo wants to illustrate that we can still pay attention of the important thing in our life and also enjoy the marvels in the world. (:

I just think when we pour the drops of oil in a larger container, it means that we make a larger container in our hearts to be thankful. make larger containers on us to do more. to never underestimate the important things in our lives, but always have a way to enjoy the beauty. always have a way to smile.
Somestimes, we just need to provide more space in our hearts and ourselves to receive and give a lot of things in life.

* bilangajasihgamaurepotbawapakesendok.gantiajahpakebaskom.haha. :p *

beside, the answer above, there are lots of interesting answers.
but there is one more interesting answer for me.
and i feel it now.
a form of happiness that i am always thankful for..

keep me warm. make me smile. make me try to do more than i can.
the answer from my friend.. my summer butterfly,

the happiness is to be with people who loves me.. to be with people whom could give them love, care, smile, comfort, hug, happiness, and everthing.. So that I feel God love is around, realy close..that He really loves me.. my heart opens..warm.. :]

kata orang bahagia itu sederhana. Kata kamu?
(:
